Apache Solr

SolrTM is the popular, blazing fast open source enterprise search platform from the Apache LuceneTM project. Its major features include powerful full-text search, hit highlighting, faceted search, near real-time indexing, dynamic clustering, database integration, rich document (e.g., Word, PDF) handling, and geospatial search. Solr is highly reliable, scalable and fault tolerant, providing distributed indexing, replication and load-balanced querying, automated failover and recovery, centralized configuration and more. Solr powers the search and navigation features of many of the world's largest internet sites

Elasticsearch is a search server based on Lucene. It provides a distributed, multitenant-capable full-text search engine with a ReSTful web interface and schema-free JSON documents. It has a real-time search and analytics engine built in and is built especially for the cloud. Elasticsearch clusters are resilient – they will detect and remove failed nodes, and reorganize themselves to ensure that your data is safe and accessible all the time It scales out-of-the box, and it is really easy to add extra nodes when you need more capacity. As ElasticSearch uses JSON objects it is really easy to map your content items into ElasticSearch schemas for easy searching.
